Guess where I am! Deep Creek Lake! That's right, there's a computer. Guess what that means? I can do my stupid paper... Bleah. But it also means I can post. Woohoo!

I just finished reading "Lord of the Flies". It was sad, but really, really good. It made you think. In the little "Notes on Lord of the Flies" at the back of the book, William Golding (the author) is quoted as having said (when describing his book),"...in the end where life appears, dignified and capable, but in reality enmeshed in the same as the symbolic life of the children on the island. The officer, hacing interrupted a man-hunt, prepares to take the children off the island in a cruiser which will presently be hunting its enemy in the same implacable way. And who will rescue the and his cruiser?" That's deep stuff, and so true. We're all just little children running around, trying to decide who should be leader and who's priorities are best. Good book.

Today we went to this short hike called Sparrow Falls. It was near a series of waterfalls and was really nice, even though it was raining. We saw these kayakers going down the river, and going over the waterfalls. They weren't huge waterfalls, but it was still pretty cool. It made me and my brother want to kayak. Kayak camp was so much fun..... Kayak is a palindrome!! Haha... ever since my palindrome-title phase, I have been forever on the lookout for palindromes. After that we went to a brew pub and ate lunch which was good. I had this really good artichoke and spinach dip appetizer, a grilled portobello sandwich, a greek salad, and carrot cake for desert. Haha the waitress was like *refering to me and my brother* "Wow, you guys eat alot. My kids are 14 and 19 and hardly eat anything. You two can really eat." It was funny, because my dad is always saying people would pay money to watch the Vaudins eat. After she left he was like, "See... we should charge admission". Haha... I love.. food. :D After lunch we came home and my brother and I played ping pong, and then my mom, my dad, and I went on another walk down the street. Then we came back and made a fire and read. It's so nice and quiet, even if the weather's not that great. It's peaceful. I really want to draw or read more... but I have to get going on my work. Pleeehhhh. Aoiashijasdkljfhao. Grrrr...

Oh well, I'll be back later. I hope everyone else is having a good break.

Mood: Peacefull.... pleasently sleepy
Music: the ling fire....nice *_*

For Biology, I have to conduct a survey on whether a sample of the population believes that my topic is ethical or not. Here is the question and some info to base your answer on:
Gene patenting is patenting either a process that involves isolation of DNA, or a chemical substance related to DNA. Should it be legal for companies to patent genes?
Pro arguments:
- Makes companies willing to put the effort and money into researching and developing products because they will receive a payment when their discovery is used
- Allows companies to protect their inventions without secrecy
- Makes companies certain that their new invention has not already been discovered
Con arguments:
- Makes reseaerch more expensive because scientists must pay to do research with a patented gene
- Scientists who might otherwise share information cut off communication because if competition for commercial advantage
- Genes are part of nature, therefore they cannot be discovered and no one should get that credit
Please include your age, gender, ethnic background, occupation, and opinion. Thank you!

I can't wait for the play! But I'm so nervous... When we get back we have three days...THREE. And we haven't even gone through the whole thing. And we haven't practiced on the stage with tech at all. The week we get back will be crazy. I feel bad because I miss like three hours of practice everyday because of track. My life is Ms. Muehl vs. Mr. O. I know it's my fault for taking all this stuff on, but I couldn't give anything up. I'm listning to "Pray" from the musical, and in some of the stuff, I think we sound better than the recording. Like in the part with "Julian, where is my Julian? Bring him hoooooooommmee!" Dru sounds better than the professional. (In my opinion) So there is potential for a really great show, we just have to work together. I'm gonna go take a shower and do some work, then go to Borders. I just want to go straight to Borders...stupid paper.... *mutters under breath*

I've decided to pose off everyone and add music and mood.

Mood: Springy
Music: "We Dance" - Once on this Island

SPRING BREAK, WOO-HOO!

It's going so fast.. only 6 more days. :( I have been having a lot of fun, alternating with working lazily on my paper and being stressed about my paper. I'm glad that we had Spring Break to do it, but I'm also not glad. On Thursday I'm going to Deep Creek Lake, which should be nice, except for the fact that I will have my paper, and I won't be able to hang out with my friends. I should just bring you all with me. Now that would be cool... Everyone who's been to Deep Creek Lake loved it, so I hope I will too.

I'm going to go work on my outline. I know this was short, maybe I'll come back.. in my non-existant free time.

I forgot! I missed Turtles Migrate's birthday... It was March 24th! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY BLOG!!!
HALF DAY WOO-HOO! Track was right afer school which wwas good because that meant that I could go to pit and then go home. (Not like I'm smart enough to start my homework or anything *_*) The only thing about that was that we couldn't eat lunch, so I had to plan my food throughout the day. I ate a large breakfast of cereal, one and a half pieces of peanutbutter and jelly toast and some fruit salad, and then sneaked some sandwich in 5th (or 2nd, according to the half day schedule) period and some raisins in orchestra. It was really hot outside during track. We were doing bleachers and the sun just reflects off the metalic surface and glares at you. It was soooo hot and my water bottle got stolen, so I was literally hungry for water by the middle of practice. Luckily some people were generous and shared. After practice I went to pit and Mr. O bribed us with lolly pops to play the songs right. After pit I came hme and showered, and now here I am procrastinating from (do you procrastinate from? or is it...no, I guess it's from) doing my AP reading.

Oh, that reminds me, we had a really enlightening discussion in AP government last week. We were in the foreign policy unit and were discussing the U.S' right to implement democracy in other countries. I know the government thinks their doing a great thing, setting up democracies, seeing as it's the best system in the world, but have they considered the possibility that other countries might not want a democracy, or even, that it might not work? The thing is, in many Middle Eastern countries, everything that is done is based on religion: what you eat, when you eat, the way you dress, everything, including the way their government is run. A democracy requires seperation of church and state. Also, in order for it to work, the people have to question the government. These people are not going to question their government, because the government is run by what the religion says. The two Middle Eastern girls in the class said that no one even considers questioning the government, it's just not done. No one wants to because the government is based on the religion and they believe that the religion is the truth and is what should be done. If we ask them to question their government.....we would be asking them to question their religion. You can't just take the religion from the government, that would be taking the identity of the country away. So realistically, it wouldn't be possible to establish democracy in many countries. AP government is a great class, I don't regret taking it, despite the stress from the work. I learn so much, I learn how to think deeper into things, and I am presented with things to think about that I wouldn't have ever seen before. Also, I'll be so much more prepared for college and such. Now I have to go do homework...siiiigh....

I didn't have a chance to post this weekend :( But now, it's 5 minutes before I have to catch the bus and so I'm onlie. *_* I would have 10 minutes but the computer is being really annoying and took forever to start up. Half day today!! We also have a race, so hopefully I can get some homework done. OK, now I have to go catch the bus, see everyone at school!
